This is the English translation of our Dutch book “De Responsive Enterprise“.
The world is moving faster every day. Sometimes it seems pointless to even make plans; the proverbial ink is barely dry before something has changed and the plan has become obsolete. That’s why responsiveness is crucial in order for companies to act quickly in our ever-changing world. Large organizations have often lost much of that responsiveness when compared to start-ups, even though they are- in actuality -operating from a much stronger position. This is because the have already secured the essentials: clients, services, products and monetary resources.
This book tells the story of Ron en Mark. Ron is director in a large international company, with much bureacracy at the cost of energy and customer focus. Mark, on the other hand, is owner of a young fast growing company that has entrepreneurship and customer attention at its core.
During 9 holes of golf they discuss the 9 most important principles for organizational responsivenss. Though Ron is mostly sceptical and sees mostly impediments to implement these in his own organization, he refinds his enthusiasm. He discovers how he is able, within the dynamics of his own organization, to depoly these ideas directly. While playing golf they discover together how to make the large and slow organization of Ron much faster and way more responsive.
